- NAEA - the National Association of Estate Agents.
- Negative equity - this is where the current value of your house is less than the amount you borrowed to buy it. Negative equity is a common problem when house prices are going down.
- Newel - the post at the top or bottom of a staircase, which supports the handrail.
- Newel Cap - the ornamental piece of wood on top of the newel post.
- NHBC - the National House Building Council.
- Non-bearing Wall - a wall which carries only its own weight (it does not support the structure of the building). If required a non-bearing wall can removed without causing structural problems.
